September 2017 saw Helping Hands’ first birthday, with the event marked by our monthly pop-up cafe, with the theme of a birthday party.
On date Helping Hands held it’s monthly pop up cafe with the theme of a birthday party to mark the one year anniversary of the group being set up.
With thanks to generous members, we were able to give the homeless of Portsmouth a buffet-style gathering with a hog roast on the menu. On offer were pulled pork sandwiches served with stuffing, apple sauce and crackling alongside some pizza. A variety of hot drinks were also served including hot chocolate, which went down a treat with the winter season coming upon us. Cold drinks including cans of fizzy drinks were also available for our street friends to take away with them after the event had finished.
Not just a hog roast was available but also a wide selection of puddings for after. This included our birthday cake along with some other sponge cakes which had been baked and donated by whom.
A fun time was had by all, including our street friends, admin team, volunteers and members of the public who joined in our birthday celebrations.
